NSTU is committed to promoting sustainable water use across all campus facilities. All building designs and constructions are developed to minimise water consumption and comply with national standards. NSTU follows the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) 2020, which sets mandatory standards for water efficiency. Campus infrastructure is designed, constructed, and maintained in compliance with BNBC, with plans approved and verified by government-certified building consultancy firms. While NSTU does not have a separate water-efficiency policy, adherence to BNBC ensures that water-saving practices are consistently implemented university-wide.
NSTU ensures that all water extraction from on-campus sources, including lakes and groundwater, is conducted using sustainable and environmentally responsible methods. The university sensibly captures and stores rainwater in its large campus lake, using it for various purposes across the campus and thereby reducing reliance on groundwater extraction. Extracted water undergoes proper treatment to meet quality standards before distribution, reflecting NSTU’s commitment to sustainable water management and conservation.
