Bangladesh is a developing country; so, it is faced with the great challenge of food insecurity. In spite of achieving self-sufficiency in food production, a huge number of people experience the food insecure situation in this country. Since long time ago, scientists are striving to feed the growing population of Bangladesh. However, to assess the present situation of food security in Bangladesh need to do research and study relevant field for creating qualified manpower.

Developing countries like Bangladesh is facing serious problem of ensuring sufficient safe & nutritious foods to cater the need of common people. Moreover, the country is under massive threat of non-communicable disease burden along with emergence of different communicable diseases which are putting a lot of pressure on existing health system, hence aggravating the progress of this country. To tackle those disease burdens, it is imperative to inform, aware & educate people to the importance of having good varied diet, be physically active and maintaining standard of living. This has necessitated the service of huge number of skilled and educated manpower in the field of Food technology & Nutrition Science.

Food Technology and Nutrition Science (FTNS) Department therefore has come up to take the challenge of this crucial issue with an aim to produce skilled and educated manpower in this sector. Within a very short period, since its journey starts in 2012, Food Technology and Nutrition Science (FTNS) department already demonstrated its outreach excellence through establishing linkages with various government, non-government, national and international organizations for research, extension and developmental activities.

Given population growth and rising incomes, it is estimated that the demand for food will rise by 70 to 100 percent by 2050. To meet this need, the United Nations estimates that production in developing countries will need to almost double. The Government of Bangladesh with the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and University, research organization has taken collaborative approaches. I strongly belief that Food Technology and Nutrition Science (FTNS), Noakhali Science and University, Dept will play a significant role to fulfil the vision by producing science based efficient manpower and enlightened citizen for ensuring future food and nutrition security in Bangladesh and around Globe.
