About Md Imdadul H Khan
Md Imdadul H Khan has been completed his Bachelors in the department of pharmacy of the University of Dhanka, Bangladesh. In the same university, he has been completed his Masters in the department of Pharmaceutcal Chemistry, Bangladesh under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Mazid. He worked on isolation of endophytic fungi from the plant Rauwolfia Serpentina; large scale cultivation, extraction of isolated endophytic fungi Cladosporium sp, and purification and characterization of two cytotoxic and antimicrobial fusarubin molecules from the crude extract of Cladosporim sp.
Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D in the division of Medicinal Chemistry of the University of Missippi in United States under the supervision of Dr. Hoang V Le. He is working on design and synthesis of potential therapeutic for pain, cancer and infectious diseases such as HIV, malaria, and MRSA. He is also working on the developement of reaction methodology to expand the scope of functionalization of bioorthogonal chemistry.
Using rational drug design approach along with computational tools this group discover lead molecule as well as optimize the existing leads. Their synthetic strategy invovles both semi-synthesis of natural product molecules and synthesis from commercially available molecules. They design efficient and economic multistep synthetic route to synthesize those designed molecules. During the process they develop new methodology or optimize the existing one for certain reactions. Collaboration with different biology labs help to guide them toward the discovery of novel therapeutics for aforementioned diseases.
